Subclass 804 Aged Parent Visa – Perth

Do your parents wish to move to Australia permanently?

The Aged Parent Visa 804 lets eligible aged parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents or eligible NZ citizens live in Australia indefinitely. At Migration Australia (South Perth), we help you plan, sponsor and lodge the 804 application with clarity—despite the complex rules and long wait times.

What is the Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 804)?

This is a *permanent visa* for aged parents who meet certain criteria. Some key features:

  • Once granted: you may stay in Australia indefinitely as a permanent resident.
  • You will have access to Medicare and the ability to work and live in Australia full-time.
  • However: this visa is **capped and queued**, meaning there are limited grants each year and wait times can be very long.

Thank you so much for all your support

throughout this journey. We are truly

grateful for your guidance and assistance.

We are very happy and excited to receive

the visa grant,

Thi – Partner visa applicant

Who can sponsor?

Your sponsor is typically your child (an Australian citizen/PR or eligible NZ citizen) who is settled in Australia. The sponsor must agree to support you and meet other criteria.

Who can apply as the parent?

  • Eligible parents need to show their relationship to the sponsor, meet identity, character and health requirements, and maintain adequate health insurance for their stay.
  • Be an “aged parent” – reach the age pension age threshold.
  • Meet the Balance of Family Test: at least half of your children must live permanently in Australia, or more of them must live in Australia than in any single other country.
  • Be in Australia at time of application (and not in immigration clearance).
  • Meet health and character requirements.
  • Evidence should be consistent, up-to-date and decision-ready.

What we do

  • Strategy first: 3-year vs 5-year stream, timing, and evidence planning
  • Sponsor approval: forms, Government requirements, income evidence, character requirements
  • Parent visa application: identity, relationship, health insurance suggestions, supporting docs
  • Risk management: gaps, name-mismatches, travel timing, document consistency
  • Start to finish: Application preparation, upload, monitoring, requests for information

Some Required documents

  •  Sponsor: proof of status in Australia, income evidence, identity, character
  • Parent: passports/IDs, relationship evidence, health insurance details, character
  • Supporting: family relationship documents, name-change proofs where relevant

We provide a tailored evidence checklist and templates so you can collect the right documents, the first time.

Fees & timing

You’ll need to budget for Government charges, health checks, police checks, and our fixed professional fee. Timing varies with caseload and document quality - after your consult we’ll give a realistic, personalised timeline.

The 804 visa is queued due to its non-contributory nature. Wait times can extend to many years. Meanwhile, many applicants apply for a bridging visa to remain in Australia while their application is processed.
